2023-2024 Key International Foundation Projects
For the 2023-2024 academic year beginning in July 2023, KEY International has
funded scholarships for 2,450 low-income children from fourteen schools in
Chennai. Each of these children has received an average scholarship of about $50
this year, which covers a substantial portion of their annual tuition fees. The total
funding from KEY International this year for all these children was about $120,000
(approximately Indian Rupees INR 10,000,000). Details of the 14 schools are
given in the webpage www.keyinternational.org under the tab 2023 Projects.
The principal and teachers at each school (with my approval) have selected the
children based on their academic performance and their low-income status.
Twenty-five children from each class starting the 6th grade to the 12 th grade were
selected for a total of 175 students in each of the 14 schools. The students must
maintain a minimum level of academic performance (equivalent to maintaining an
average of 'B' in the US) to continue receiving the scholarship till they finish their
high school.
Key International acknowledges the help of Dr. Koen van Rompay, (the founder of
www.sayaha.org) in facilitating the awarding of the scholarships. These
scholarships will help the students complete their high school enabling them to
lead more fulfilling and productive lives. All these children receiving scholarships
come from families whose average family monthly income is less than about
$200.
The web page www.keyinternational.org, has details of the projects for the
previous years. The CPR Foundation (cprfoundation.org) will continue to
monitor the progress of the children from eleven schools, and each of the
remaining three schools will be monitored by the Guild of Service-Central, DMS
Trust and CHILD Charity Organization respectively, all in Chennai, India.
Key International has also supported through the Vanavil Trust a sum of $1,000 to
fund the education of tribal children in a primary school in Nagapattinam, Tamil
Nadu, India.
KEY International Foundation would appreciate any help from you to support and
expand our projects to help educate the low-income children. You can donate by
sending a check (payable to Key International Foundation) to Tejas Batavia,
4286 Astor Hollow Street, San Ramon, CA 94582-4877)
You can also donate using your credit card or with PayPal (credit cards and PayPal
charges a small fee). Please visit the webpage www.keyinternational.org and click
on the donate tab for more information.
Please note that 100 percent of your donation will go towards helping these low-
income children (the Board of Directors of KEY International covers the very low
administrative costs of the organization). KEY International Foundation is
classified as a Public Charity under Section 501(3) (c) of the IRS code. All
donations to KEY International continue to be tax deductible as per IRS rules.
Thanks to your generosity during the last 22 years in improving the lives of these
children, KEY International has been able to provide scholarship support to
low-income children for 12,705 ‘scholarship years’ (about 80% of the support
has been for girls and about 20% of the support for boys).
If you wish to have further information on these projects, please feel free to contact
me or any member of the Board.
